Who am I and Why am I here?

Hi, I'm Jeffrey Yang! I'm originally from China and currently a senior Computer Science major at Virginia Tech. If you've somehow stumbled upon this blog—wow, that’s amazing! Welcome! Honestly, I never expected anyone to actually find this, so if you're reading this… well, consider me pleasantly surprised. But hey, since you're here, feel free to stick around!

Alright, time for a proper introduction! I'm very much a tech person—I love delving into the world of consumer electronics. I have a soft spot for retro tech, whether it’s classic arcade games or old-school button phones.

Beyond tech, I'm also a DIY enthusiast. I enjoy paper crafting, 3D printing, and sculpting with polymer clay. Sometimes, I even sketch or sew my own clothes. In the world of DIY, I'm always eager to experiment with new things—there's just something exciting about bringing ideas to life with my own hands.

Of course, as someone from China, cooking is practically in my DNA. I cook every day and love trying out new recipes from time to time.

In my downtime, I often dive into sci-fi novels, especially those with cyberpunk aesthetics and bizarre, thought-provoking ideas. And to set the perfect mood, I love pairing my reading sessions with the raw energy of early punk rock from the birth of the genre.

I always like trying new things. So, this is another reason why I took this course. In some ways, this is also why I choose to go to a university in U.S. instead of those in my hometown. I want to have all those different experiences that I can only get here. For example, I am blogging, and that is something I have never tried before. And actually, I have tried lots of things before.

For example, I love rock and roll, especially rock from the '80s, and I love the era when rock and roll tried to break boundaries and bring all kinds of bold and avant-garde rock at the time. Sometimes, in some moment that I didn't expect, they could really touch my soul.

I also enjoy drawing. Both the process that I draw, also the process of appreciating others work. So that is why I love animation, in a sense, I watch animation more than I appreciate their pictures, rather than simply watching movies.
