Who am I and Why am I here?

Image
Hi, I'm Jeffrey Yang! I'm originally from China and currently a senior Computer Science major at Virginia Tech. If you've somehow stumbled upon this blog—wow, that’s amazing! Welcome! Honestly, I never expected anyone to actually find this, so if you're reading this… well, consider me pleasantly surprised. But hey, since you're here, feel free to stick around! Alright, time for a proper introduction! I'm very much a tech person—I love delving into the world of consumer electronics. I have a soft spot for retro tech , whether it’s classic arcade games or old-school button phones. Beyond tech, I'm also a DIY enthusiast . I enjoy paper crafting , 3D printing, and sculpting with polymer clay . Sometimes, I even sketch or sew my own clothes. In the world of DIY, I'm always eager to experiment with new things—there's just something exciting about bringing ideas to life with my own hands. Of course, as someone from China, cooking is practically in my DNA ...

[I]magine you are part of a two-person team required to complete an assignment. Imagine that only your teammate was given the instructions for what was needed to complete the assignment. Conversely, you were only told that at some point your teammate may be unable to complete the assignment and, without prior notice, you will need to immediately finish it. You were also told that if your team fails to complete the assignment, it is entirely your fault. In this case, I would say that this would be a very stressful and anxious situation for me. Because I don't know all the information, I don't know the specific content of the task I'm dealing with, the progress of my teammates, the potential progress and risks. It is also a very unfair situation. Everything is unequal. I can't get the same information, I can't take the same responsibility, and I can't complete the task equally. I will bear huge responsibility risks, and I may need to bear all the subsequent pro...

Does neuromarketing inhibit innovation?

Image
Neuromarketing uses a variety of technologies and techniques to get a more accurate picture of consumer behavior. Techniques used include the use of electroencephalography (EEG), functional magnetic resonance imaging combined with heart rate, eye tracking, and more. Meaning that through these means, people's subconscious mind can be harnessed to influence their consumer behavior and thoughts. For example, packaged water companies can use neuromarketing to make their advertisements become mind-altering and stand out from a group of products that make almost no difference. Additional examples include neuromarketing to get people to accept new products, such as scrub daddy's sponges, which can stand out in a market full of competing products through smiley-face innuendo and precisely tuned promotional videos. But neuromarketing may inhibit innovation when it is widely used. When similar products appear on the market, companies may choose to spend their budget on marketing rathe...

Concept Reflection 8

Through these reality shows or articles, we will find that the wedding is a very traditional but at the same time, very complex thing, it is related to two families and a family that is about to be formed. At the same time, there is also a huge industrial chain around this matter. A wedding involves many things, including the opinions of both parents, how to choose the wedding venue and format, cultural differences in different races, whether the man and woman are together, etc., all of which have an impact on the whole wedding. In an episode of Bridezillas, a black couple has a huge ambiguity about the wedding, with the man wanting it to be a small private wedding and the woman wanting it to be a wedding where all family members can be invited. The woman did not hold the wedding as requested by the man, but invited all the family members, causing the man to choose not to attend the wedding, and six months later chose to hold the wedding with the woman in Los Vegas.
